Responsibilities of this senior administrative role include: directly supervising all faculty (45 people), further deepening and strengthening the academic vision, facilitating all faculty meetings, purchasing all materials, supplies, and textbooks for the school, as well as develop, enhance, and evaluate the school’s K-8 Curriculum, facilitate both horizontal and vertical articulation of the curriculum, lead the K-8 curriculum mapping process, support the development, implementation, and evaluation of student learning experiences, assessment methods, and curricular paths, facilitate teacher training, mentoring, and coaching, including managing the professional development budget and creating five-year forecasts, oversee all faculty hiring, assessments, and evaluations.
This role included managing 88 families and approximately 20 full and part-time faculty. Leading the Lower School encompassed opening car doors each morning in carpool, creating the schedules, planning professional development, managing the budget, public speaking, interviewing new families, assessing student data over time to build strategic goals, coaching teachers in Writer’s Workshop or through differentiated math centers, providing parent education, teaching advanced 3rd and 4th grade math classes, and creating a culture of reading through Butterfield Book Clubs and Read-A-Thons!
